Taurino Agricultural Company

The Taurino Agricultural Company is based in Squinzano (Le) and is managed directly by the brothers Donato and Rosaria, who together with their parents Pino and Maria have started a project of specialization and modernization of the owned olive grove; the farm extending for about 160 hectares is equipped with a modern oil mill in  a continuous cycle with "cold" extraction and milling of the olives in 3 hours, operating with strict compliance with health and hygiene standards. It is a short supply chain and therefore all phases of the production process, from the production of the olives, to the extraction, to the packaging of the oil produced, take place in the company which also has a sales point for tasting and purchasing the company products. Taurino is the story of a passion handed down from generation to generation. The company was founded in the 60s, in Squinzano, from an idea by Pino and Maria, hard workers with a secret dream: to build a solid future for their children in the heart of their land, Salento. The bet, ambitious, is to no longer cultivate olives to be resold to large processors outside the region, like most of the farmers in the area, but to make their own extra virgin olive oil that can aspire to levels of excellence. An idea that precedes its times and proves to be a winner. The production is mainly based on 100% Cellina di Nardò, to which blends are gradually added with Ogliarola Salentina and with non-native varieties, such as Leccino, Frantoio, Nociara, Carolea and Pendolino. In the meantime, the second Taurino generation is growing up, with their children Rosaria and Donato, who at the age of 14 are already running around the company and enjoying driving tractors, and meanwhile perfecting their technical knowledge, first with a diploma as an agricultural expert and then with degree in Agricultural Sciences. Donato looks to the future and senses the change of times towards a more demanding and attentive consumption: this is why in 2002 the Taurino company made the leap in quality, with the construction of an oil mill within the company complex and the introduction of the latest technological innovations. Today the Taurino farm is one of the most important realities in Salento, where all stages of processing are followed directly, both the production and transformation of the olives, and the classification, storage and preservation of the extra virgin olive oils. The result is a production that strictly adheres to the highest quality standards: short supply chain, organic cultivation, olives harvested and pressed on the same day, for a range of highly prestigious extra virgin olive oils.
