Luigi Corbo Farm

The olive groves of the CORBO farm are located in the territory of Fragneto Monforte, a hilly area of Sannio in the province of Benevento, and most of them are made up of the ORTICE cultivar typical of Campania and in particular of the Benevento area. The oldest olive groves are flanked by a relatively young olive grove with different cultivars: Frantoiano, Racioppella and Leccio del Corno. Permanent grassing is practiced in the olive groves: this protects the soil from erosion, increases water storage capacity and maintains fertility. The production of olive oil is a very ancient tradition in these lands. In fact, numerous archaeological finds have been found, some of which are kept in Benevento in the Sannio Museum, which testify to the presence of olive growing already in pre-Roman times.

The ORTICE cultivar produces an extra virgin olive oil of great value and delicacy, thanks to the favorable climatic conditions in which the plants are grown and the great resistance to cold that distinguishes them. This variety, particular for its very large, almost spherical fruits, is characterized by an abundant but alternating production over the years, with an average oil yield.

The monocultivar of Ortice is an intense fruity extra virgin olive oil, the essence of the precious and secular variety, excellence of the lands of Benevento. On the palate it has a perfect combination of spicy and bitter, with a very high concentration of antioxidant polyphenols. It is precisely the polyphenols that give it this decisive flavor and the abundance increases its health value, being the most represented antioxidant and anticancer molecules in the plant kingdom. Yellow in color with green hues, it affects the sense of smell and the palate with strong bitter and spicy sensations, without ever being unbalanced. Tasting this golden product you can notice typical hints of tomato, fruity and with floral notes. The incredibly good Ortice extra virgin olive oil is excellent for seasoning vegetable and legume soups, to be drizzled over boiled or grilled fish and first courses and white meats. In some cases, it is also used for the preparation of red sauces.

In addition to extra virgin olive oil, the CORBO farm also produces DOC white wines (Falanghina and Fiano) and reds (Barbera and Piedirosso)
