"QUINZIO" WINE - Susumaniello Rosso IGP Puglia 750 ml.
I.G.P. Puglia
Susumaniello is a variety of black grape native to Puglia, a region in south-eastern Italy famous for its Apulian wines, in particular for Apulian red wine. The name "Susumaniello" derives from an ancient legend according to which local farmers, working in the vineyards, used the dialect expression "susu 'maniellu," which means "loaded like a donkey." This nickname highlights the abundant productivity of the bunches of this variety. The bunch is medium in size, with small, round berries of a bluish-black colour, characterized by a high concentration of polyphenols and anthocyanins, which give the must an intense color and low acidity.
Susumaniello is appreciated for the production of full-bodied and aromatic red wines, with intense aromas and rich flavors that recall black fruits, spices and a pleasant acidity.
Today there is a rediscovery of Susumaniello, making it a protagonist in the production of excellent Apulian red wines, both pure and in blends with Negro Amaro and Malvasia nera di Brindisi. The wines obtained from Susumaniello are distinguished by their ruby red color, often with purple reflections. Intense fruity notes of plum, berries and red fruit jam emerge on the nose, accompanied by pleasant spicy hints reminiscent of pepper and vanilla. These wines represent an excellence among Apulian wines, perfect for those looking for a rich and complex Apulian red wine.
