The Pirrone Organic Farm is the result of many years of experience, dedication and passion that have led three generations to pass on the love for their culture and traditions handed down over time, a fundamental premise for planning our future. Started in the 1930s with activities dedicated to pastoralism and the production of tobacco and cereals, in the 1960s the olive groves were planted using a traditional layout (6 x 6 m). The management of the olive groves takes place with an eco-sustainable approach with great attention to the vegetative cycle. In recent years the company has been further reorganized by planting a new olive grove of over 1000 plants, with varieties such as Leccio del Corno, Cima di Melfi, Frantoio, Coratina to offer extra virgin olive oils (EVOs) characterized by organoleptic qualities ranging from very fruity and spicy to sweeter and more delicate EVOs, suitable both for dishes with a traditional flavor and for typical dishes of vegan and vegetarian cuisine. Great attention is paid to the management and care of the olive groves to guarantee a high-quality product. Innovative pruning techniques are used, taking great care of the productive capacity of the soil, the exposure and the climatic and meteorological conditions prevailing in our geographical area. Only organic fertilizers are used, and our farm has implemented good management techniques and practices for the EVO supply chain. The EVOs produced with our organic olives are the result of many years of experience and are produced in a closed cycle and organic oil mill, with a cold mechanical process in which the various processing phases are followed with great care and by staff highly specialized.
The phases following the pressing of the olives, such as conservation and decanting, are carried out following quality control protocols approved by the certification body. To guarantee always fresh and fragrant oils, bottling takes place only when the customer's order is received and scheduled by our structure. Both during storage in strictly stainless-steel containers and when they are bottled, our oils are constantly in a controlled atmosphere, to avoid any contact with air which would alter their organoleptic characteristics and ability to conserve for a period of at least one year from the date of production and bottling. Our Extra Virgin Olive oils have been certified by national authorities (AgroQualità SpA) as IGP Olio Lucano which is a great recognition to our farm and encourage us to continue reinforcing our management-eco-sustainable approach for a trusted and eco-sustainable EVOs.
